Phil Collen Auctioning Custom ‘Wings’ Guitar
9月 7, 2012
Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen is auctioning off one of his custom Jackson PC1 guitars to benefit the Gerson Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Gerson Therapy, an alternative treatment for cancer and other degenerative diseases.
The guitar, which is named “Wings,” was donated by Jake Willoughby, a guitar and music store owner whose mother passed away earlier this year from pancreatic cancer after a courageous 13-month fight.
Mike Learn, a noted artist whose graphics are well known in the guitar world, donated a graphic custom paint job on the guitar. Learn has lost two family members to the same disease, while Collen’s own father succumbed to cancer, as well.
The auction, taking place exclusively on eBay, began Sept. 5 and will end Sept. 15, the last date of the Def Leppard’s Rock of Ages tour.
For more information, visit Collen’s official website, and click here to bid on the guitar.
